At this year's Aero Friedrichshafen, PBS Velká Bíteš a.s. went beyond presenting the firm in a standard exhibition space where its entire portfolio of products was on show, by having a static stand that afforded visitors a view of how the TP100 engine had been applied in a Cessna 172. The Cessna is utilized under PBS’s EXPERIMENTAL category. The aircraft serves as a flying laboratory in order to conduct tests necessary for further development, and it also showcases the installation options available to potential customers.
The turboprop engine generates 240 horsepower, and lends aircraft interesting flight characteristics. The main advantages include reduction in noise, shorter distances for take-off and a rate of climb of up to 10 m/s. These qualities designate an aircraft equipped with a TP100 engine as suitable, for example, to be used by aero clubs to tow gliders or drop skydivers.
The Cessna 172 T flew to Friedrichshafen Airport from its home airfield in Křižanov, which is where test flights are conducted; to date it has completed more than 60 flying hours.
